About TrendyMiko
Chinatsu was born into a Shinto cultural research family in Kyoto, where her elders dedicated themselves to the study and preservation of shrine traditions. Growing up amidst torii gates and shrine halls, she developed a deep and unique understanding of miko culture. As one of the few in her family to venture into modern design, she sought to bring new life to the aesthetic symbols that carry faith and stories across generations. This vision led her to establish TrendyMiko, using nail art and accessories as a medium to infuse traditional culture into everyday expressions of style.
While studying in New York, she noticed how the Western market oversimplified Japanese aesthetics—cherry blossoms and goldfish were reduced to mere decorative symbols, while the philosophy of the seasons and the depth of traditional motifs were often overlooked. She wanted her designs to challenge these stereotypes, offering the world a richer, more authentic appreciation of Japanese beauty and craftsmanship.
TrendyMiko bridges tradition and trend:
- "Trendy" represents breaking the conventional perceptions of Japanese aesthetics, reshaping shrine culture, symbolic motifs, and subcultural elements with a modern design language.
- "Miko" reflects the Shinto heritage that has surrounded her since childhood, incorporating natural elements, historical patterns, and contemporary influences into each piece, creating a unique spiritual connection.
To Chinatsu, nail art and accessories are not just decorations—they are a form of self-expression. Each TrendyMiko creation is a piece of "art on the skin," allowing wearers to communicate their identity, emotions, and individuality through design. Whether it’s a corporate professional subtly showcasing neon hues in their manicure or a homemaker embracing elegant, intricate patterns, each person finds a way to break boundaries and explore new possibilities through these artistic details.
At TrendyMiko, customers are not just consumers; they are part of the "Miko Tribe"—a community where colors represent attitudes, and patterns become a language of self-expression. As Chinatsu says:
"True tradition does not remain stagnant—it flows like a river. And through our bodies, we are writing new chapters."
Be confident. Be stylish. Be you—with TrendyMiko.
